Ivacy VPN features and security
Ivacy VPN combines essential privacy protections with features for streaming, downloading, and accessing geo-restricted content. Its security toolkit includes 256-bit encryption, an internet kill switch, IPv6 leak protection, and secure DNS, while split tunneling and dedicated IP addresses offer more control over how you connect. Here's what each feature does and how it can benefit you.
Security and privacy features
- 256-bit encryption: Ivacy advertises up to AES 256-bit encryption to protect internet traffic from interception. This helps keep sensitive information safer when browsing, accessing accounts, or using public Wi-Fi. The actual encryption level depends on the protocol selected.
- No-logs policy: Ivacy states that it doesn't monitor or store browsing activity, connection logs, original IP addresses, or DNS queries. This is an important privacy commitment, although the policy itself doesn't establish whether the provider's claims have been independently audited.
- Internet kill switch: If your VPN connection drops unexpectedly, the kill switch cuts off internet access to help prevent your real IP address and unprotected traffic from being exposed. It's particularly useful for downloads and other activities where an unexpected disconnection could compromise privacy.
- IPv6 leak protection: Some connections can expose your IPv6 address even when a VPN is active. Ivacy's IPv6 leak protection is designed to prevent this by disabling IPv6 traffic while connected to a VPN server.
- Secure DNS: DNS requests translate website names into IP addresses. If these requests bypass the VPN tunnel, your internet service provider may be able to see which domains you're accessing. Ivacy's secure DNS feature is designed to keep these requests within its protected connection.
- Multiple VPN protocols: Ivacy supports several connection protocols, including WireGuard, IKEv2, and IPsec, according to its current product information. The available options depend on the app and platform you use. Different protocols offer different trade-offs between speed, compatibility, and security.
Features for streaming and everyday use
- Split tunneling: This feature lets you choose which apps or traffic use the VPN connection and which connect directly to the internet. For example, you could route a streaming app through a foreign VPN server while keeping access to local network services through your regular connection. It's useful when you don't want every app to use the VPN.
- Dedicated IP: Ivacy offers dedicated IP addresses for users who need a consistent address rather than one shared with other VPN customers. This can be useful for accessing IP-restricted work systems or reducing the extra verification that sometimes comes with frequently changing IP addresses. However, a dedicated IP is more consistently associated with your connection, so it offers different privacy trade-offs from a shared IP.
- Purpose-based server selection: Ivacy provides connection options for activities such as streaming, secure downloading, and unblocking content. These presets make server selection easier if you don't want to choose a location manually. However, access to particular streaming libraries can change, so the feature doesn't guarantee that every service will work.
- Protection across multiple devices: Ivacy advertises up to 10 simultaneous connections on a single subscription. This allows you to protect several devices, such as your laptop, smartphone, and tablet, without repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting.
Overall, Ivacy covers the main security features expected from a VPN, alongside practical tools for managing traffic and accessing online content. Its encryption, kill switch, and leak protection help secure your connection, while the no-logs policy remains a provider claim that should be assessed separately from technical safeguards. The provider also advertises malware scanning for downloads, but this should not be treated as a replacement for dedicated antivirus software.
Why is log absence so important?
It is vital for modern internet users to show preference to the VPNs, which don’t keep logs, as log files contain information that allows determining a user’s identity even in case he or she uses a VPN.
Such files usually include the data about users’ requests, IP, date, and time of access to websites, downloaded and uploaded data, and so on. All this data creates a picture of a real user.
And it is child’s play for the government to reveal the person on the other side of a monitor. In this connection, it is extremely important to use those VPNs that are log-free. And Ivacy VPN is among them, as its policy forbids keeping logs, whatever happens.
User’s safety with Ivacy VPN
Taking into account Ivacy VPN characteristics and facilities, one will experience a really secure use of the Internet.
⇒ Reliable encoding
- As it was mentioned in the previous section of the Ivacy VPN review, all data will be under the strong protection of this VPN, as the provider offers an effective method of data encryption (256-bit key). It means that even in the case of your e-mail hacking, all the data will be indecipherable. Adversaries will manage to see letters and numbers, which will not provide them with any information about the hacked e-mail holder.
⇒ Multi logins
- Simultaneous use of several devices is very convenient for active Internet users. It is possible to torrent anonymously on a computer, watch streaming video on a smart TV with VPN, and be in correspondence with friends and colleagues securely by means of a smartphone or a tablet, for example.
⇒ Automatic kill switch
- Ivacy VPN makes your Internet activity utterly secure because of the function called ‘kill switch’. From time to time, a user can face the situation when a VPN is switched off. In case a user is not very attentive, he or she continues using the Internet without being protected (because a VPN is disconnected). Thus, a person can undergo various types of cyber threats. Using Ivacy VPN it is impossible to be in such situation as the system disables the Internet and a user knows that the system of protection doesn’t work. In this case, it is necessary to restart a VPN and Ivacy will continue protecting its subscribers against adversaries.
⇒ Flash-like Ivacy servers
- The speed of Ivacy VPN is really double-quick, what makes it attractive for torrenting lovers. What is more, Ivacy speed is an advantage for those who appreciate streaming content, as in this case a person will not experience pauses while watching a TV show or a movie.
⇒ Secure WiFi connection
- Having chosen Ivacy VPN its subscriber can use public Wi-Fi via VPN without a thought of being hacked. Everyone knows that public hotspots are not trustworthy, as it is dead easy to undergo data leak while using them. Thus, having decided to pay for service by card in a public place, a person can lose all his or her money in a split second. Ivacy prevents such troublesome situations as it encodes all the data securely.
⇒ Access to any content on the Internet
- A user will not be restricted in the content with Ivacy. This trustworthy VPN is created to pass by geographical restrictions of various kinds: whether it is censorship or banned for some regions content. Now an Ivacy client can enjoy blockbusters and read the latest news. In this case, a user will not only get access to desired content but also find out about news around the globe to see a real worldview.
On the whole, user’s facilities are unlimited with Ivacy VPN. After trying Ivacy it will be impossible to stop using it because of its numerous advantages for an acceptable price.
